Paul Shallcross

Senior Class Pianist

Paul started his music career as a Music Scholar at Christ Church, Oxford University. After working as Head of Music and Drama at three secondary schools, including Gwernyfed High School, he left the teaching profession in 2001 in order to become a freelance composer and accompanist.

A request from his local film society to accompany the film "Metropolis" set Paul onto a career as a silent film composer and accompanist, and he has given over 200 performances throughout England and Wales. He has written over 50 film scores and is most well known for his performances to Buster Keaton films.

Since joining the School has an accompanist, Paul has written over 30 short ballet pieces, and a full length ballet score for "Etudes" which was performed live at Theatr Brycheiniog in July 2008.
