Lesley Walker
Principal
Lesley trained at the Hammond School - a prestigious vocational dance training school in Chester. After obtaining her A levels she gained a place at the Institute of Choreology in London to study Benesh Dance Notation.
Her dance career was put on hold while she married and had her three children, but as soon as her youngest daughter was old enough, she enrolled both herself and her daughter in the nearest ballet school which was then in Abergavenny. Encouraged by her teacher, who was reaching retirement age, she studied for her teaching qualifications and opened Ribbons Ballet School in Brecon in 1995.
Early classes were held in the Wellington Hotel and the Subud Centre, but these quickly moved to Theatr Brycheiniog, which is now the school's main base.
Lesley is now a Registered Teacher with the Royal Academy of Dance, and an Associate member of the International Dance Teachers Association, and the school has gone from strength to strength. It now caters for over 300 pupils taking classes in a wide range of dance disciplines and musical theatre.
